GW Summer Response to COVID-19
As the University continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision to protect public health and minimize risk will be our top priority. Visiting students may enroll in GW summer courses as non-degree students and in GW Pre-College Programs. Please visit the Non-Degree and Summer websites respectively for more information. All students enrolling in any in-person courses in Summer 2022 must demonstrate compliance with GW's vaccine requirement. The Summer EAP Advantage
This program offers an excellent opportunity for international students who are recommended or required by their GW schools to get a head start on their studies by focusing on developing language skills, as they prepare for the fall term.
Take summer EAP courses at GW to:

Summer English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses are open to undergraduate and graduate international students enrolled in full-time degree programs at GW. Students who speak English as a second or additional language and wish to strengthen their academic writing, research, and communication skills are invited to enroll in these courses.

Incoming Fall GW Undergraduate International Students
Program Courses
EAP courses are not structured like traditional English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. Instead, they focus on improving critical thinking, research and writing skills that form the basis of student success in academic settings and beyond.
Undergraduate Courses
Undergraduate students who come to the United States on a visa are required to enroll in two courses (6 credits) to maintain full-time status. This may include two EAP courses or one EAP course and another non-EAP course (selected from among available summer offerings). Students should first consult with Undergraduate Admissions if they choose to enroll in a non-EAP course. EAP offerings for undergraduates include:
- EAP 1010: Oral Academic Communication for International Students (3 credits)
- EAP 1015:Academic Writing for International Students(3 credits)
Registration
An academic advisor will coordinate with the students' respective offices to register them for classes, as well as facilitate any schedule changes that need to be made during the summer.
Graduate Courses
Graduate students who come to the United States on a visa are required to enroll in at least one EAP course (3 credits) to maintain full-time status. Students should consult with their admitting school if they also wish to enroll in a non-EAP course. EAP offerings for graduate students include:

- EAP 6111 Academic Writing & Research II for Graduate Students(3 credits)
EAP 6110 and 6111 will be available as asynchronous online classes in Summer 2022 for international students who wish to take this course from their home countries. Please inquire with your graduate school program staff to register.
